Randy Pausch, a popular college professor whose “last lecture” became an Internet sensation, died at age 47 on July 25 in Virginia following a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Pausch, a professor at Carnegie Mellon University, was diagnosed with incurable pancreatic cancer in September 2006. In August 2007, the cancer had spread, and Pausch was given 6 months to live. A month after learning the cancer was terminal, Pausch gave his now-famous talk to a packed auditorium, where he discussed the importance of celebrating life. Read more & see the video here.

Batman star Christian Bale reportedly “flew off the handle” at his mother, Jenny, after she insulted his wife, Sandra ‘Sibi’ Blazic, according to several sources. There was no physical assault on either Bale’s mother or sister, sources say; rather, the actor raised his voice at Jenny after she said some “outrageous things” about Sibi, 38. Bale and Blazic have been married for 8 years and have a daughter, Emmeline, 3. Read more.

Angelina Jolie’s obstetrician was intimidated by her superstar status, saying Jolie and partner Brad Pitt’s fame added a lot of pressure to their twins’ birth. With the world following every detail of Angie’s pregnancy, “for sure [I felt nervous],” says Dr. Michel Sussmann. “It wasn’t pressure on a medical level, but there was pressure due to the couple’s fame.” Read more.

Angelina Jolie’s newborn twins, Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline, are “so cute!” says her doctor, Michel Sussmann, in what has to be the understate- ment of the decade. Sussmann, 56, also says Jolie was a model patient. “She is so, so nice and never complained about anything,” he says. “There are negative things sometimes written about her on the Internet, but don’t believe them.” Read more.

Ex-call girl Ashley Dupré just can’t seem to stay out of trouble. The buxom 23-year-old brunette, who was Eliot Spitzer’s favorite prostitute, is being sued for ID theft by Amber Arpaio, a N.J. dental assistant who claims Dupré illegally used her driver’s license to convince a Girls Gone Wild producer that she was old enough to be filmed back in 2003. In an odd twist, Arpaio, 26, has named GGW founder, Joe Francis, as Dupré’s co-defendant. Arpaio’s federal lawsuit–which was filed in New Jersey on July 11–now has former adversaries Dupré and Francis lumped together on the same side as co-defendants. Read more.

Americans value free time to more money, according to a new report. A whopping 67% of the 2,400 people surveyed by the Pew Social & Demographic Trends Project ranked free time as their top priority–placing it above professional success, getting married or having kids. The remaining 13% of survey said being rich was their biggest priority. Read more.
