If having money guaranteed happiness, it’s obvious we wouldn’t see the epidemic of drug and alcohol abuse among rich and famous celebrities, and the wealthy wouldn’t have the same problems the rest of us do. One reason is that people are often mistaken. They, as Aristotle argued, seek an obvious good and mistake it for the greater good of happiness.
Money cannot buy happiness. But, if you have enough, perhaps you can rent it for a little while.
